{ no good title for this one }

this might be TMI, but it's not meant to be ... i don't think.  i had several title ideas, but didn't want to go there.  too many underlying meaning with this post.

so, i frequently find myself in search of the perfect bra.  that's right.  that perfect, smooth, hold-em-up-all-the-time, double barrel sling shot ( as they have been called before ).  does it exist?  does it really?  i have not yet found "the one for me".

and don't get me started on trying them on.  i'm not one for trying on anything, especially when you're shopping with a toddler.  probably my first problem(s).  BUT we all know that we have to wear one.  it drives me insane to see one that i think will be perfect, get it home, try it on, and ... well, to spare the details, there's actually less there than what it looked like in the store.  it doesn't fit right at all.  doesn't hold much in.  or up.  geesh.

i'm stumped.  i don't think i have EVER found a bra that i absolutely love and would buy more than one of.  have you?  where do you buy your bras?

see, no TMI here.  just girl to girl, woman to woman, exchange of ideas, that's all.

sorry mom.

  1. Sorry, Erin. You gotta try 'em on in the store.
    LOTS of them.
    Try every style, in several sizes. And if you're too shy to ask the lady for assistance, do some measuring BEFORE you go. Here's how...
    STEP 1: BAND SIZE
    Measure under your arms, high on your back, across the top of your chest. If this measurement is an even number, this is your band size. If an odd number, add 1" to determine your band size.
    STEP 2: CUP SIZE
    Measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Next, subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement; each inch represents a cup size. For example: if your band measurement is 34" and your bust measurement is 36", the difference between these measurements is two inches, and you'd wear a B-cup.
    I wear a Bali Minimizer. Because unlike most of the population, I'm trying to make mine smaller. TMI?? But they make many other styles, too.
    Good luck!

  2. I too hate to buy bras, I can try them on in the store and think that they are fine and wear them a day and realize I hate them!! The only one that I have ever found to work is Body by Victoria full coverage from Victoria Secret. You pay an arm and a leg for them, but they are comfortable and supportive. I try to buy them when I can find them on sale, which happens every once and a while.

  4. I got some great advice when I became pregnant...buy a good bra. I went to a really nice Dillards and found an awesome lady that actually knew what she was talking about. Found an awesome bra and bought more than one. Still wearing them. That was the best thing I did was actually get professional help. I have decided that bra fitting should be left to the professionals b/c I always buy the wrong one.

  5. I hate to say it but my favorites have always come when I splurge and head to that pink place in the mall (VS). I know, I'm supporting a company that plasters pictures of women in not-so-flattering positions, but well, they have good bras when you get one that is just right. And it lasts for a long time.
