. what a trip .
call us brave. or call us stupid. your call.
spring break this year found us, once again, venturing to oklahoma and san angelo. things this time were different though. we had a two year old and a newborn. no one told me how hard it would be to travel with the two of them. let's not talk about that though.
we went to oklahoma first, driving all night, to see this cute little guy ...
... oh, and his parents too. one pretty much becomes chopped liver when the kid arrives. we've learned that, and learned it fast.
karsyn and konner had blast and played really well together for the most part. we went to the park three times! it was so nice to get away and hang out with friends for a few days. and we LOVE going to their house because our kids seem to sleep so well while we're there.
after several days in oklahoma, we headed to san angelo (which evidently means, "place on the edge of nothing" ... thank you for that translation, tracy). mykah was able to meet her great-granny (on my favorite man's side). karsyn gave away lots of hugs and kisses that day. and got into just about everything she could get her little hands on.
overall, both girls did SUPER, but we were more than ready to be back home. as always, we needed a vacation from our vacation.

. sneak peak .
today we enjoyed a beautiful saturday outdoors. we took advantage of the nice weather to snap some bluebonnet shots and to have a picnic in the park, along with lots of playground fun, and sno cones! what a day.
if you look closely, there's a small piece of bluebonnet in mykah's pacifier. thanks to big sister. speaking of, said big sister does not like her pictures to be taken. i'm lucky to get a good shot after about 50 snaps. makes me want to pull out my hair.
more pics to come. along with updates from our spring break trip.

. what could be better? .
other than a few hours of being curled up in my soft bed with warm covers and a fluffy pillow, in the dark with my eyes sealed shut, nothing in the world could be better than waking up to these sweet faces on a cold, rainy friday the 13th morning.
today is a stay in our pajamas all day, curl up on the couch and watch a movie with the blinds shut, kind of day. do you think a 2 year old and a baby would go for that? i'm thinking they may have something else in mind.
my day, however, has to consist of a little bit of cleaning, a lot of packing (headed to oklahoma tomorrow), a few sips of dr. pepper to keep my blood flowing, and wishful thinking (that i'm going to get a nap today).
happy friday.

. how to throw a tantrum .
she's a pro people. textbook trantrum thrower. for example; here's a scene from many trips to target. the place that she loves. and so do i ... when only by myself or with sleeping baby. not when accompanied by a two year old. ever.
here's how to do it kids. act so innocently adorable. sport beautiful blonde curls and little bows, and a cute little gap between your front two teeth, so that no one has any idea what you really have up your sleeve.
continue acting innocent and harmless. usually until you get into the store. at this point, begin to throw tantrum, but start slow. first, just pant and whine a little when your mama asks to you sit in the cart. then, arch your back and scream, pretty much preventing your body from being put in the sitting position and buckled. recover quickly, however, especially after she takes you to the bathroom and spanks you. ouch. return to the cart, smile, and say "hi" to everyone you see so your mama won't be too suspicious that this is becoming a trend.
grin and nod as you hear your mother say to a stranger who has just stated that you are such a well behaved little girl, but that she is "so brave" to shop alone with two children, that you "have your moments". play coy and act charming so that she has no idea at what lies just beneath the surface.
and then, when she leasts expects it, and you hear your baby sister begin to grunt and snort in her seat, signaling that its time for her to wake up and eat, decide that this is the perfect time to let 'er rip. as your mother tries to finish her target shopping at break-neck speed, supermarket sweep style, so as to finish before your sister really wakes up, ask for more popcorn that said mother so kindly bought you at the beginning of this shopping experience.
when she does offer it to you, act repulsed. look at her like she's completely lost it. grab the bag of popcorn and toss it in the back of the cart, right on top of baby sister. now begin to scream. wail as loudly as you can while you attempt to crawl out of the cart. force your mother to chose between your safety and your sister's hunger and watch as she juggles a crying infant and forcing you back down into the seat. arch your back and bellow as she tries her hardest to remain completely calm. act as if something might be genuinely medically wrong with you. cry so hard and tantrum like there is no tomorrow.
scream so hard and carry on and thrash about so much that you are oblivious to the fact that your super hero maternal figure has stopped to feed your sister and calmly carried on her target shopping while pushing your tantrum throwing self around in the cart.
become a blathering, slobbery, mucousy, snotty, splotchy faced mere remnant of a girl by the time she reaches the checkout counter. stop crying suddenly and muster up a sweet smile for the checkout girl and consider it a job well done.
can you imagine all of that from such a sweet face as this ...

. 2 months .
here's my sweet baby. 2 months old. today. i had my own little photo shoot with her today and it was so fun. i decided that i'm going to take her monthly pictures next to this cute little bear so we can see how fast she grows. that is, if the bear outlasts big sister. karsyn discovered the bear earlier. if bears could talk ...
mykah had her 2 month well check appointment today. here's her stats.
12 lbs 3 oz ... 50-75th percentile
22 1/2 inches ... 75th percentile
and just to compare. at 2 months ... karsyn was 11 lbs 14 oz and 23 1/2 inches.
here's a few of my favorites from today.
sweet baby. you've been in our lives for 2 whole months. it seems like you've been here forever already. and what on earth did we do before you came? i cannot imagine it without you now. you bring such joy to our world. and you've survived sissy too. she's only brought you to me twice so far, but she loves you more than you know.
today you started really paying attention to me when i talk to you. you smile and make squeaky baby noises. you melt my heart day to day and i cannot wait for the next morning (or middle of the night) to see your sparkly eyes again.
you are beautiful, sweet baby.
xoxo

. happy dayday daddy .
because of karsyn's love for birthdays, we have sang "happy birthday" to daddy ALL. DAY. LONG. which is ok, because he deserves only the best. and over the top. but low key and relaxing.
so happy birthday. my favorite man. our favorite daddy. hope you're enjoying your nap right now.
xoxo
. 1478 .
the number of pictures i have taken on my camera since mykah arrived on january 10th. holy moly. she's not even 2 months old yet. almost 1500 pictures.
and ... i DELETED a few {GASP!}. yes. i said it. i said the "D" word. D.E.L.E.T.E.D. i deleted a few pictures. if they are blurry or just horrible pictures, i delete them. is that against the law? a few of you probably shouldn't answer that. those of you who delete NOTHING.
here are a few of my recent favorites ...
