karsyn has her first dance recital this next weekend.  much to my dismay, she has to wear a little bit of makeup.  so, we practiced today.  i think i put too much.  maybe it's just because a 4 year old has no business wearing it.

. may 2011 - mykah .

oh sweet baby.  today she is 28 months old {just thought i'd throw that in.  don't you LOVE the parents that count months until the kids is like 12?!}.  yes, she's two.  need i say more? 

here's a little about mykah these days ...

*spit.fire.  i can't say it enough.  she can be so sweet one minute and in a split second ... well, you don't want me to go into those details.

*she has deep, dark eyes and dimples high on her cheeks that can light up a room {if she's in the mood}

*she's VERY much like i was at that age.  don't talk to me until i'm ready to talk to you.

*she loves to pretend like she's a puppy. 

*she is so very different than her sister, but i can see so many similarities that makes it very obvious that they are sisters.

*her hair is curly too! 

*she's my meat eater.  she likes meats and sweets!  VERY opposite of karsyn.

*anything karsyn can do, she can do better.  they are very competitive and i'm not sure where they get that from.  ahem.

*she is potty trained, for the most part.  she'll have an accident here and there if she is busy playing and forgets.  and she'll say "awe man."

*she wears a 2T clothes and a 7.5 size shoe. 

*she weighs about 30lbs and is 35in.  she's short and stocky! 

oh, sweet mykah.  you light up my life.  when i first got pregnant with her, i really didn't know how i could love anyone else.  now i couldn't imagine my life without her.  she may act like a big girl one minute, but the next minute she's asking me to sit down and rock her.  i {LOVE} that.  i'm still able to rock my baby!  there have been several days here lately where the only way she'll nap is if i'm rocking her.  and i let her.  and i eat it up.  i hope she never outgrows being my baby girl.  i hope she always wants to sit in my lap and let me rock her to sleep.  and i could hope that she'll always been small, but i know she'll grow, and i can't wait for that either.

. menu plan monday .

so i must admit that i don't really have a menu planned for the week {slacker of the year award already won.}, so i'm going to make up my menu right now as i type this.  another reason i've been slacking on this is because i'm trying to use what i have instead of shopping right now.  so it's fly-by-my-seat week, basically.

monday - tonight we had bbq chicken drumsticks, sweet corn, and baked beans
tuesday - leftovers because i made WAY too much monday and need a quick meal
wednesday - breakfast for dinner!
thursday - unsure.  something quick and easy, i'm sure. 
friday - spaghetti (the BFF will be here with her family for the weekend.  i have LOTS of spaghetti sauce already made and frozen), salad, and garlic bread
weekend - either fajitas or pizza.  i can't decide.

well, i'm so glad i could be such help to you and give you so many good ideas and recipes.  i'm sure you'll be checking back next monday for even more information so i'll try to plan accordingly!  BAH!

my granny has had these kind of flowers {i'm not even sure what they're called} in her yard FOREVER.  her favorite color is yellow and i can remember picking these little flowers and sniffing them to where they stuck on our noses {in a non-drug-kind-of-sniffing way}.  memories.

this evening the girls and i, along with the mimi, made and decorated sugar cookies.  this is just a quick post to let you know that ...

there may be flour on our feet, but the cookies are edibile.  minus the toe-jam {sorry, couldn't resist}.  more on our fun evening later...

. secret hiding spot .

growing up, we frequently played hide-n-seek in the house.  always searching out the coolest hiding spots and i still remember my dad shoving one of my smallest friends up in the top nook of a built in bookshelf in their hallway.  so i got a bright idea.  why not create a fun new hiding spot for my girls.

they are always hiding from people and this spot has actually given them the chance to scare the poopy out of both people we have tried it on.  it's hilarious.  trust me. 

they only love it, however, long enough to scare the poopy out of someone, then they're done.  apparently they don't like heights.  i've been thinking though that maybe i'll stick them up there when they are misbehaving and getting into things.  what?! 

even "puppy" liked it up on the fridge.  which brings up another story real quick ... sweet baby likes to pretend she's a puppy these days.  seriously on all fours.  crawling.  tongue out as seen picture.  panting.  the whole enchilada {which could bring about another story, but i'll stick to this one}.  today, i came in from the garage, and she was in puppy mode, trailing my mother-in-law who had bits and pieces of pretzel in her hand "feeding the puppy".  how ridiculous, i know.  it was so stinking funny.  she panted.  begged.  and got a pretzel.  i think she may be onto something.

before you ask ... yes, sweet baby is ALWAYS naked.  i put clothes on.  she takes them off.  and it's a battle that i have put on the back burner for now.  maybe when she's 16 she won't fight it anymore.  until then.  plus, this is how she stays so tan!  

i turned her loose with a spray bottle this afternoon and she had the best time.  it's amazing at what the cheaper-than-$1.00 toys can do.

karsyn amazes me everyday with the things she learns and does.  she is going to do really well in school and is definitely going to a perfectionist in everything.  not sure where she gets that from.  ahem. 

these days she spends at the kitchen table {which is now covered with pen and marker marks} writing away.  sometimes she draws, but she really prefers to just write.  she writes her name.  first, middle, last.  writes other peoples names.  she knows how to write the names of all of her friends at school even.  i know, she's pretty darn smart if i do say so myself. 

i love watching her learn new things too.  everytime she sits down with that marker she comes up with something new.  even if it's learning how to write with a marker in her mouth ...

. multi-tasking .

sweet baby can multi-task like no other 2 year old i know.  typically, it's left thumb in mouth WHILE the pointer finger on same said hand is in the nose.  so, she can suck her thumb AND pick her nose all at the same time. 

this particular instance she was throwing a fit [not a hug one, obviously, but she was mad b/c i wouldn't let her watch a movie], sucking the thumb, and doing something strange with her eye.  i'm not real sure.  i'm thinking she resembles an alien, but i could be wrong.

you may start seeing more of these pictures.  karsyn LOVES to just sit and write.  her, an empty notebook, and a marker keeps her busy for several hours at a time.  and somehow, she knows how to write her alphabet backwards.   seriously.  the whole thing.  she writes the letters backwards and does it just as fast as she writes them forwards.  i'm pretty sure she's smarter than me.

. 10 on tuesday .

10 things i got on my mind ...

1.  the song "georgia on my mind" only b/c i said "on my mind" when i typed the title.
2.  how i so desperately need to get rid of ALL of our easter candy.  every last bit of it.  i'm not even sure that the girls have eaten a single bite.  but i know i have!
3.  that i'm such a boring blogger.  seriously.  i wish i had more entertaining things to talk about or discuss.  i thought the other day how boring our life is.  we don't do anything.  we don't really go anywhere or just hang out with anyone.  we like our routine and to be at home.  that's what we do.  makes ya wanna jump up and come stay awhile doesn't it?
4.  i so wish i could be on the biggest loser.  i want to focus on nothing BUT getting in shape and losing weight.  how awesome would that be?!?
5.  why the heck is it 60 degrees in may?  ok, wait, i actually LOVE it, but it's weird.  seriously.  the girls were swimming towards the end of march and now we're wearing jackets again.  gotta love texas!
6.  i think i'm falling asleep typing this.
7.  why in the world does mykah stay dry in her panties all night long, but will pee on the floor in the hallway before getting on the toilet?  makes this mama LOCO!
8.  and then when she poops in her panties, she says every single time "awe man."
9.  picking my eyelids back up ... i have gone to bed before 10:00 every night for several days now.  i need to jump back on the workout bandwagon and get this mama some energy that doesn't come from a certain red carbonated drink. 
10. probably no one is still reading this, so it doesn't matter what number ten is.  right?!  maybe next week will be better.

maybe it's mother's day coming up that's got me all squishy inside.  this is my all-time favorite picture of karsyn, probably more because of her onesie than anything, but i still love it.  my little jaundice baby!  she was just a few days old here and i could eat her up!

i obviously struggling with posting daily.  sometimes i simply don't know what to blog about and definitely don't want to bore you with my boring life.  today, however, i was looking through karsyn's baby pictures to pick one out for her preschool program and found this ...

she was almost one years old and in complete awe over something.  we were in the woodlands at the big christmas tree there.  i'm not sure what she saw though.  but how i miss this sweet little face.  she changed so much over the course of her 4 little years!  my heart almost aches to think of how fast she has grown, but i also can't wait to see the young lady she will grow into.  she's amazing me so far!

. sweet sister moment .

this JUST happened and i happened to have my blog opened up, so i thought i'd jot this down.  it's 8:36pm.  the girls have been in bed since 8:00pm.  they randomly just walked in the living room where my favorite man and i are relaxing.  they were all smiles.  karsyn was twirling mykah's hair and said "listen to mykah sing her ABC's."  and mykah began singing. 

that was it.  but how precious was it that the whole time they were supposed to be falling asleep, karsyn was teaching mykah her ABC's.  and she sang every last letter too!
