i'm trying my hardest to get into the holiday spirit here.  the tree is up and decorated.  and there are trickles of christmas here and there throughout the rest of the house.  i'm doing a few projects involving these three colors of scrapbook paper.  i'll post them when they're all done!

this weekend was filled with "getting ready for christmas" moments.  my favorite ... my brother-in-law putting the star back on poppy's barn.  him and my dad took it down to change the lights out.  poppy has had this star shining bright every december for many years and i LOVE seeing it.

the great pine cone pick up. 

my parents neighbor had a ton of pine cones that had just fallen and karsyn insisted that we pick them up.  i have no clue what she has planned for them or what i'm going to do with a massively huge trashbag full of pine cones now on my porch.

clearly all of these are christmas ornaments, so i'm not going to describe each of them to you.  the ONLY one i am is #4 ... clearly the monkey is not orange.  i just thought it was too cute to keep to myself.  enjoy!

mae mae taught the girls how to spit off of the bridge at the end of our christmas card photo shoot.  they are so lucky to have an aunt like her, even when she teaches them weird things.

clearly mykah wasn't feeling the photo shoot today.  she's getting harder to convince that these pictures are important without candy or chocolate being involved. 

we had a wonderful thanksgiving this year, although we missed having mr. hill with us.  it was the very last longhorn/aggie football game, so he wanted to go.  next year, however, i won't be so nice.  we missed him!  but i was so thankful to have that time with my family.

in just one month, my little girl will be FIVE.  a whole hand!  when did that happen?!?! 

as of right now, she ...

*is going to be a teacher when she grows up.  and that is evident more and more every day.  it'd really surprise me if she was anything else.  she loves to help others and to teach them.  she's constantly showing mykah, very patiently for the most part, how she's supposed to do things. 

*loves playing babies.  whether they are barbies, baby dolls, stuffed animals, or 2 year olds.  she does prefer the ones that don't talk back or move, so the 2 year olds are always last choice.

*would prefer to snack all day than to eat a meal.  she's a salty eater ... my girl!  she seldom wants something sweet to eat and always drinks either water or orange juice at home.  when we are out, she wants root beer.

*she is obsessed with age, birthdays, and dates.  she reminds me constantly that she'll be 5 on her next birthday and reminds everyone that she is currently 4 AND A HALF.  don't miss that last part!  she always tells me how tall she'll be when she's a certain age and things she can do when she's a certain age.  constantly.

*is an outside girl.  she'd play outside all day if i let her.  climbing trees.  and she just figured out how to cross monkey bars on her own.  she's so proud!

i love my girl.  i'm constantly reminding myself that she's still just 4.  she wants to be so big.  wants to grow up.  but i want to bottle her up and keep her little.  her smile lights up my world and her kindness to others is shining bright now too.

on our way home, we had to make several stops.  it never goes like i plan, which makes me crazy.  this stop was a "just because" stop at a scenic turn around point on i35 in oklahoma.  karsyn kept saying "we're on top of the mountains!"  clearly we need to study more geography.  it was a hill.  really.  not very high at all, but it was so nice to be able to see some pretty scenery other than highway and 18 wheelers. 

have i mentioned how much i love this girl?  she amazes me more and more every day!

i think karsyn could have held elliott the whole time we were visiting.  i could have too!!  we had such a great visit, but, as usual, they never last long.  i so wish i could have stayed longer.  we did lots of cuddling with the baby, washed lots of bottles, took lots of pictures, and laughed at karsyn and konner.  it was such a great weekend.

this was the first picture i took of sweet baby elliott.  karsyn and i made the trip by ourselves, which was so good for us.  she never stopped talking until her eyes closed, but we had some great conversation.  elliott was one week old when we saw her and she is so very tiny!  i don't remember my girls being that little!!

here's mykah at gymnastics last night.  she absolutely loves it and i think we've finally figured out how to sit on our carpet square and listen to the teacher.  it's only taken 3 months.

i cannot keep clothes on this girl.  seriously.  she runs around naked all morning, then insists on wearing pajamas at naptime.  in this instance, i cannot claim her as my own. 

it would be a fight every day if i let it be to put clothes on her. some days we are successful.  most days we see panties all day long.

this was mykah's "small stack" of pancakes.  next time we go to hullabaloo's for breakfast we know to expect GINORMOUS portions!  we laughed for the longest time about her pancakes.  of course, she only ate maybe a quarter of one.

just wanted it to be on record that i used an entire tub of carmex without losing it.  it is momentous.

oh this girl.  she still melts my heart.  she knows how to get to me.  she knows how to get her way.  and she's very good at it.

so, right now, she ...

*knows that she's 2 AND A HALF.  and that she'll be three on january "tenf" (10th).

*loves doing anything and everything sissy does.

*does not like picking up toys.  she always comes up with an excuse.  the most recent one ... "i'm cold!"  seriously kid?

*she's my meats and sweets eater.  she'll eat chicken and chocolate cookies for every meal if i'd let her.  she LOVES chocolate!!

*she still has to take a nap everyday, although she cries.  but it's not an option.  and that thumb never leaves her.  obviously.  she always has it in her mouth!  we may have to have an intervention.  she says "it's my favorite thumb!"

*is still very much attached to me.  she's gonna be the tough one to break!

she's my baby.  those dark eyes, dimples, and mousy voice make her irresistable!  i'm telling you, it's so hard to tell her no.  but i do.  and she cries her little heart out.  but she comes right back for more.  she's a fiesty one!  she seems to quiet and shy, then she breaks.  she is our entertainment.  constantly.  and i wouldn't have it any other way.

sweet baby elliott was born today and i got to "be there"!  see ...

that's me on facetime!  i got to watch the delivery, which was amazing.  i'm so so so so happy for my BFF and that her delivery was easy compared to her last one.  what a perfect little girl she is!

i can't wait to see what this precious precious baby girl grows up to be.

karsyn got some kind of stomach bug on our trip home from oklahoma yesterday, so we're home today.  just us.  it's kinda nice.  we're taking it easy, cleaning lots, and playing with pumpkin pie playdoh that we made.  for some reason, my girls play playdoh without their shirts.  not real sure where they picked that up at.  i promise i keep mine on!

i keep wanting to take this picture when we're in oklahoma and always put it off.  i insisted this time.  little did i know, this would be about 3 minutes before karsyn started her trail of throw up the rest of the way home.  how fun is it though that the BFF lives in "The Hills".  love that!
