Oh, hey Friday!

This week FLEW by, but I also feel like it was the longest week in the history of all the weeks.  Amen?  This week started Mr. Hill's football games that he coaches, which changed our fairly new schedule and routine.  Not that we had it down just yet.

By the way, as I was going through my pictures, I noticed that the toddler has the iPad A LOT.  Like, a lot.  Poor third child.

We were very excited to go to daddy's first football game!  Funny thing is we never even watched the game.  I pretty much had to bribe them with candy to get them to take a picture with all three bodies in it.  Even if it was the back of their heads, it's a cute one.

It was like free-play for these three.  Running.  Hide-and-seek.  One team wheel barrow races.  Heads up, never pick Kid2 to be your partner in wheel barrow races.  You won't make it past the start line.  Poor girl.

Hopscotch.  More wheel barrow races.  The toddler drank my entire drink.  We chatted with friends from daddy's school we haven't seen in a while.  And we got to hug daddy's neck after the game was over.  And, since the boy is the only child who lets me take their picture, you get blessed with an overflow of these ...

I also love the he wears hats already.  Daddy's team is the Texans, so we picked this one and he wore it the whole time.  Too. Stinkin. Cute.

This also happened today ...

My bad.  Thankfully, I made it to the gas station and filled 'er up.  We also had playtime with our sweet friends.  Also known as - Jaxton ate all of Ruby's rice cakes.

We ended the day cleaning throw up all over the living room and dining room.  I'm not sure what the deal is, but Kid3 isn't holding anything down!  Probably all the rice cakes!  Or sweet tea.  Anyhoo - I've bathed him and oiled him and put him to bed.  This was NOT how I thought our week would end, but I'm so thankful that Mr. Hill is home tonight to clean up all the vomit help me!

Funeral Planning

We are in the midst of funeral planning.  Again.  I never in my wildest dreams that I would have been planning two funerals when I was in my early 30s.  NEVER.  I never even thought about what all it entails.  There are so many details.  Sadly, this time is a no-brainer for us.  We're doing the same and it feels so routine now.  We've picked pictures.  We have frames.  We are honoring the VFW, which was extremely important to him and he was actually in the VA hospital when he passed.  It was him home for over a year.

Why is this commonplace for us right now?  We should not be burying two parents within 7 months of each other.  My heart breaks for my sweet husband.  He has no parents.  He was an only child and his parents were everything to him.  They were so very very close and now he is without both of them.  I can't even imagine.  I pray constantly for him and his heart.

Day 60

Today, my sweet man turned 33.  He's been through so much these last few years and he continues to amaze me with his strength.  I'm very proud of him and love him more each day.

We celebrated by going to watch the girls play 3 soccer games.  Oh, the life with kids.  He was such a trooper!  After soccer games, the girls and Nana made him cupcakes and he opened a few presents.

I love you, Mr. Hill.  Happy, happy birthday!

Laziness and a little Fun

This is me trying to justify the extremely lazy day the girls had.  Treyson is still with us, which means the girls have played non-stop for 4 days.  I mean from the time they get up to the time they go to bed at night, they are busy.  I really like it.  It's a big difference from our typically casual days.

My girls are technology freaks.  If I allowed it, they would be on the iPad or watch TV all day long.  And there is no exaggeration there.  As long as I brought them snacks occasionally and they took potty breaks, I'd probably not see them all day long, which is why I choose to limit their time on the iPad.  Karsyn actually wakes up every day of her life asking "can I get the iPad?"  It's almost become a natural response to her eyes opening, or something like that.  And it's quite annoying to me.  Today, however, I let it happen ...

They were in heaven.  Watching the iPad WHILE eating breakfast?  Treyson wasn't as enthralled as the girls were.  You know how little boys are.  His poor little attention span lasted long enough to guzzle down his daily cup of chocolate milk and some grapes and he was off running.  I had to take the iPad away after a while to allow the girls time to get dressed, make beds, and brush their teeth.  You'd think they were headed to jail by their reactions.

While I cleaned the kitchen, the kids played, and the little guy left his trail of slobber all over the house, David was outside doing his most favorite thing in the whole wide world.  Mowing.  And weed-eating.  I'm pretty sure he'd do it every single day if the grass would grow fast enough.  (Yes, there is some sarcasm in that statement.  Okay, A LOT of sarcasm.)  He hates mowing.  But I got married for two reasons ... so I wouldn't have to mow and so I wouldn't have to put gas in my car.  (I'm kidding.  Kind of.)  He mows.  I do it when I'm feeling sorry for him or when I've had enough of the jungle out there.  Then, I took the 3 older kids to the children's museum while the little guy napped.

We met our sweet little friend Faith there and actually stayed for almost 2 hours.  Going places is a whole new journey without a baby to tote.  The afternoon was filled with lunch, naps, and lots more playing.  And because I was filling like a lazy mom today, our afternoon went like this ...

More iPad watching, but this time Mykah had to wear her eskimo coat.  She swore she was freezing and actually wore it around for almost an hour.  I was sweating just looking at her!  Thankfully we ended the day with a healthy dinner and a nice, long walk around our neighborhood.  We try to walk twice a day (morning and evening) and the girls are working up to being able to walk the whole time without complaining.  I told David tonight that pretty soon Jaxton will be walking/running/riding a bike and Mykah will be riding in the stroller.  She's regressing, it seems.

I like a little lazy, mixed in with a little fun sometimes.  We do have days where it's more laziness and some days where it's more fun.  Today was a good mix.

daddy / daughter dance

this is a HIGHLY anticipated night of the year.  they remember it.  they talk about it constantly.  they countdown to it.  the daddy daughter dance has been an annual even for us for a few years now.  i think we missed last year because we forgot.  yep, mom of the year.  anywho ...

i am a mom who likes everyone to be matchy matchy.  and my family LOVES it.  ahem.  this time, the style of dresses matched, which is what i wanted, but i had a hard time finding a tie for daddy.  all he had were blues and reds.  i didn't want his tie to stand out that much, so i found this pink tie.

i admit, they were all adorable.  yes, i'm biased.  yes, i'm okay with that.  but lots of people agreed.

they left around 6:00 and went to eat at Texas Roadhouse.  then hit up the dance around 7.  the Ross Volunteers were there and greeted them with swords high.  how neat is that?!?  yep, just like royalty, they got to walk under raised swords.  the details that go into this evening always amaze me.

they had ice cream & candy and danced the night away.  when they got home, they were wired, but quickly dropped.  i love that they have a sweet, special daddy who will do things like this with them.  AND wear a pink tie.  he rocked it.

the days go by

we had a wonderful sunday.  we decided to stay home.  life is just crazy right now.  not that staying home is the answer, but just a home day felt right.  we were able to get some stuff done, plus load up on baby gear that we were out on.  diapers. wipes. food.  you know, the essentials.

we laid around.  made breakfast.  packed some boxes.  played some basketball.  played some soccer.  played some baseball.  got spit up on.  took a nap.  went to sam's.

and good thing this boy is cute!  because he's expensive!!

this was his first real time to sit in a basket.  this look says "why in the world are you not holding me?"  he loved it for a little while.  then daddy has to carry him.

jaxton also go his first aggie shirt.  it's a johnny manziel shirt.  picked out by daddy.  coupled with his khaki cargo shorts?  BEYOND cute.

we've been enjoying the weather like crazy.  being active is super important to us, so we're spending as much time as possible outside doing things.  the girls new favorite activity is basketball.  i'm pretty sure david and the girls spent all day outside.

i LOVE these days.  they go by too quickly and i want to enjoy every bit of them.  and i did just that today.

. family of FIVE .

i'm still in shock.  i can hardly believe that i have 3 kids.  that God blessed us with 3 children.  to love.  to teach.  to grow.  and, at this very moment, all i wish for is that time would stand still and they would stay little forever.  it's rough on a mama's heart to see her children grow up so fast, but what a joy it is to see them live.  to see them learn.  to see them love and laugh.  and God has allowed me to travel this road three times.  i'm so in love.

. 201/365 .

if you look REAL close, you may be able to see the whites of daddy's eyes.  maybe.  he swears he was awake.  and i love that their favorite thing to do, other than beat daddy up, is to cuddle up for a short movie on the ipad or read books.

. 18/365 .

i love this picture of sweet baby.  it truly shows how happy she is.  she's a wild one, that girl.  but she turns the other cheek when she sees the camera come out.  as of today, i still have not taken her 3 year old pictures.  it's not something i'm looking forward to, mainly because i won't see the smile like i do in this picture.  that's how much she hates it.  she may surprise me.  in this one, her and daddy were coloring and he was making her laugh.  i can't even remember what they were doing, i was so focused on her smile and her laugh.  her laugh is so contagious!!  man, i love that girl.  i also love that her daddy is coloring in a barbie color book with her.  it's her favorite thing to do right now.

i made these cookies last night for my mister's basketball team.  and, yes, there's a story behind them.  here's my version.  so, he coaches jr. high basketball.  he has an A team and a B team.  i have had no clue how many boys there were, i just assumed it wouldn't be a big deal ... because one day he came home and said "you know, coach cantu's wife gives his players cookies after every game."  background ... cantu is the 7th grade coach and has coached for 3 years.  so every game, for 3 years, she has made cookies for the boys.  then i get "you know, she puts them in ziploc baggies and puts inspirational quotes from famous coaches on them too."  seriously?  this lady is making me look BAD.  and because of who i am, i planned on making this BIG.  i originally planned on making sugar cookies with basketballs made out of icing on the tops.  yeah, that's a little overboard.  but i did make homemade sugar cookies.  like, with my kitchenaid and all.  i thought "heck with ziploc baggies, i'm gonna go to michael's and buy those treat bags that tie."  and then, "heck with putting a plain jane quote on the ziploc bags, mine is gonna be C-UTE!"

so, when it came down to it, and i am hand making cookies at 9:00 at night, easy does it.  they did each get two cookies.  the bags got tied.  and a quote got placed on them.  they were okay.  definitely not as if they would have been for a group of girls though.  my mister didn't understand that either, i'm sure.  seriously, my thought process was "these are for boys and they don't care.  all they want is the cookies."  next time, i may use ziplocs.  BUT it turned out great.  and i was so glad i did it.  this counted as my act of kindess #10 out of the 30 i am doing this month.  next week, i gotta step up my game though.  sugar cookies?  i gotta go big.

happy thanksgiving to you!
clearly mykah wasn't feeling the photo shoot today.  she's getting harder to convince that these pictures are important without candy or chocolate being involved.

we had a wonderful thanksgiving this year, although we missed having mr. hill with us.  it was the very last longhorn/aggie football game, so he wanted to go.  next year, however, i won't be so nice.  we missed him!  but i was so thankful to have that time with my family.

. football mom treat .

so, i have a friend who is a new football mom.  and, it so happens, that she is a football mom on mr. hill's team.  when they decided that her son would attend AND play football where mr. hill teaches, i was so super excited.  maybe i'd actually get to see her more often!!!  and i have, which makes me oh-so-happy.  and my tummy is a little excited too!  she sent a sweet treat to mr. hill when school started.  (for the record, i was with him when he/we received it, so it made it home that same day.)  last week, she sent this ...

{note: she sent it last friday.  it made it home this thursday.  just a note.  don't read anything into it, like how forgetful mr. hill is or how i reminded him every day of the week to bring it home.  those are just minor details in the story.}

and boy did she know who she was really sending these too ...

she is my friend and she loves me.  the super cute bowl will make it back to you, even if it's in the dora lunchbox.  (but i kept the orange bow!)  thanks, friend!  and two fist pumps for the first treat (that i know of) that a football mom has sent home with coach!  that's why i'm in it, ya know?!

today was daddy's first football game of the season.  the girls were so excited!  i think i was more excited to see them in their outfits and bows!  we had a great time.  and, even better, THEY WON!

. 241/365 .

i kept telling mr. hill that if he forgot his lunchbox at school, he had to take the dora lunchbox that we have.  we're making sure he takes his lunch every single day so he has something semi-healthy to eat, but how can we do that if he keeps forgetting to bring his lunchbox home?!  so dora goes ..

i'm pretty sure he enjoyed it.
