the boy has hair

I'm actually not sure what to even do with him.  With his hair, really.  I've never in my life had to "do" boy hair and David has none.  We're both clueless.  Here's what it looks like ...

I know it's not even enough to worry about right now, but it's something.  I mean, it actually blows in the wind.  And he has more hair than the girls did until they were TWO.  I'm not even exaggerating about that.  This afternoon, he was a little sweaty because he insisted on being outside in the 198* heat, so I took that chance to comb it to the side to see what it looked like.  He immediately looked like he was 15, but it looks so cute.  We've also spiked it a few times and put it in a mohawk once or twice.   I'm not a long-hair fan on boys, so I know that once it really grows, we will probably keep it short.  Now I have to decide if I just let it be, comb it forward, or comb it to the side like the picture.

It's these kind of decisions that keep me up at night.  And totally blog worthy.

typical morning

These children of mine want to eat as soon as their eyes open each day.  They do NOT get that from me.  They also LOVE breakfast and don't get that from me either.  The one thing they do get from me is that they love (and thrive) on their routine.  They like the same.  They like familiarity, right down to the cups they use for milk to the plates they eat their waffles on.  The same.  Every single day.

I actually really like seeing what each of my children like.  Their little quirks.  Like Mykah has to have a different utensil for every food on her plate.  So if she has chicken, rice, green beans, and mandarin oranges ... she uses 4 forks.  Seriously.  Both girls like everything on their plate separated where nothing touches (they get that from me too).  Mykah likes her chocolate milk in her nalgene cup.  Mykah also prefers her cup, plate, and fork (if she has only 1) to ALL be pink.

And now I realize that my children are, indeed, high maintenance.

Anyhow, this is what my kitchen counter looks like each and every morning.

The girls have gotten into a waffle kick.  They want to eat waffles for breakfast every single day.  They get that from their father.  He could eat the same thing daily without getting tired of it.  And Mykah has to have her chocolate milk every morning.  Now, I know Nesquik isn't the healthiest thing.  I know that.  But she only has 1 cup each morning and it's the only way I can get her to drink milk.  So we go with it.  This particular kind is strawberry, which she calls her "pink chocolate milk."  That's one of those things I'll miss when she starts correcting me and calling it strawberry milk for real.

And Jaxton ... he likes his bottle when he first wakes up.  Right now, he's chugging 7 oz when he first wakes up, then the amount he drinks varies all day long.  He wants his bottle every 3 hours without fail.

Karsyn likes her waffle (always with fruit on the side for both girls) and water.  She's simple.  Sometimes she wants syrup.  Sometimes she's a butter girl.  Sometimes she likes just a plain ol' waffle.  And those are our mornings ...

mmm ... bluebell

We went to Bluebell today!!  Going to visit the creamery in Brenham has become a summer tradition now and this year two of our little friends joined us.  Treyson and Tyler are our new buddies and we had a blast with all 5 kids.  Poor Jaxton didn't make any pictures because he was happy in his stroller while we chased 4 others around everywhere.

I think that no matter how many times you do the tour at Bluebell, you can always come back and do it again.  Of course our favorite part was the ice cream at the end.  Try getting 4 kids, 2 adults, and a baby all ice cream.  Jaxton LOVES ice cream and didn't care who else had any as long as he did.

The kids were all so good!  It was a fun (but hot) day.  I'm very thankful the tour is all indoors because it wouldn't be a summer tradition if it wasn't.

And all but 1 kid had a nap on the way home.  It was PERFECT.
