David's dad passed away today. Although he's been in bad health and living in a VA hospital for 2 years now and we've anticipated his death several times before, but receiving that call this morning was still such a shocker. We certainly weren't expecting it. But we were. It's a hard feeling to explain. We are sad. So so so so very sad. He was a huge part of our life before and after his health problems began. He always came to see us and each visit he came to the door with strawberries for the girls. He was always there when we needed him and was such a huge support.
It breaks my heart that he didn't really get to know Jaxton. He met him. He always said "hey guy" or "hey Jaxton" when we'd go to visit him. And the first time he met my sweet boy, he cried. We all did.
What a special man, he was. He was a great father to my husband and a great Pop to my girls. And he was the best father-in-law I could have ever asked for. I miss his smile already.
