= BYE BYE BA BA!
here's how it went down. Karsyn is now 16 months old and we have let her rely on her B.O.T.T.L.E to get her to sleep every day. until now. she asked for "ba ba". i gave it to her and told her it was nasty and to put it in the trash, which is her favorite thing to do these days. you'd be amazed at what we find at the top of the junk in the trash can every day. she threw it there and we both said "bye bye ba ba". and she went on her way. well, last night at bedtime, she asked for "ba ba" again. and again. and again. and again. after an hour i gave in and gave it back to her BUT with water in it this time. and only a little bit. she took it. she went to sleep and didn't even drink the water hardly at all. today she's done the same. i'm so proud. i'm estimating it taking a few days with the water in it before she won't want it at all. hopefully.
as a result of this vicious act of taking away her dear friend, she has eaten so much better today. she actually sat down for a good amount of time and ate 3 meals. she did the sign for "eat" and "more" all day long.
and, in case you wondered, i did get the bottle that she threw away back out of the trash and put it into the dishwasher. those things are expensive you know. gotta recycle for baby #2, whom is NOT on the way.
I enjoyed hearing about this today! I so remember. As I told you, cold turkey baby is the way we went here both times!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very sad thing for me both times, it's such a HUGE event that marks their not being babies anymore!!
She's precious! I helped her in the jumper and watched her a bit today having fun!
Guess I could have saved the money and not mailed the bottle, mixer and assorted things, huh? Congrats! What a big girl you are Karsyn Layne Hill! Mimi loves you!
ReplyDeleteI miss Karsyn already! She should be in our class this summer. AShton would take care of her!
ReplyDeleteCallie thinks she needs her water bottle when she goes to bed at night :) Doesnt drink it, but thinks she needs it sitting by her bed. She didnt take a baby bottle though. I think you could let her have a sippy cup of water to take to bed forever (well maybe not when you are potty training...hmmmm...) and it be a non-issue. Proud of you for being strong!
