i make my child sound like a horrible kid. she's actually really good. a typical toddler. the toddler bed transition is going really well. we have a video monitor set up in her room so we can watch her. it's so stinking funny to watch her run from the door to her bed when she hears us coming. hilarious. what's not hilarious is her 6am wake up time this morning. she sure did get out of bed and climb in with me.
anyways, another struggle we're having is sitting down to eat. while i've always made her sit to eat, she's gotten into the bad habit of having her snacks in the living room, which has turned into her not wanting to have meals at the table. so i'm working on making mealtime, especially dinner, more interesting to her. any ideas on how to do that? i want to find her a plastic placemat that she likes, but i haven't looked many places yet. how do i get her to sit down while she eats again?
in case you are wondering, we do not go out to eat either. if we do, it is to a quick place and still not very often.
I'm one to talk, but here goes... do as I say, not as I do. Take Karsyn straight back to her bed when she comes in. If you don't, you'll have a six year old in your bed. Trust me. We took the other two back as soon as they came in and after a few tries, they never came back. Gracie came in and we never took her back. She's still coming in, though not quite as often.
ReplyDeleteSitting during meals. Well, when you get that figured out, let me know. Misty says we should just strap Grace in. It would definitely work...
take her back even when it's 6am and she seems to be wide awake? i'll try that.
ReplyDeleteWalMart and Target have cute placemats. We allow the kids to snack in front of the TV but when we are all home, dinner has to be at the table with the TV off. She'll get used to it if you are consistent. Sitting still is another issue and like Shan, I would love to be able to strap Sophie to a chair. She cannot sit still to save her life!
